GP Prescribing Mounjaro
We are receiving many requests about the weight loss injections. We do not currently provide these at the practice and the local Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for commissioning this service. We know that media coverage has stated that the injections are available from your GP, however this is for certain patients that meet very specific criteria only and currently there is no GP service in place in North East London for this – please visit NHS England » Weight management injections for further information.
Please don’t contact the surgery either by telephone or Klinik Submission, as we will not be able to refer you until the service becomes available.
The criteria to qualify for GP prescribed Mounjaro is very strict.
- Aged over 18
- Your BMI must be above 40 or 37.5+ if from a Black, Asian or other minority ethnic background. You can check your BMI on the NHS website (check your BMI here) if you know your height and weight. This will be validated.
As well as a BMI over 40 / 37.5, you must have a confirmed diagnosis of at least four out of the following five health conditions:
- Hypertension (high blood pressure) needing medication
- Sleep apnoea (confirmed at a sleep clinic)
- Type 2 diabetes
- Cardiovascular disease (heart disease, vascular disease, or stroke)
- Hypercholesterolaemia (high cholesterol)
