Having a Chaperone

All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present during any consultation, examination or procedure.

Clinicians at the practice will advise patients that a chaperone is necessary during any intimate examination. This is to safeguard both the clinician the patient.

All of our appointed chaperones have received appropriate and have knowledge of the examination or procedure you may be undergoing. The Chaperone will only be present for the examination itself, with most of the discussion with the patient taking place while the Chaperone is not present. Patients are reassured that all Practice staff understand their responsibility not to divulge confidential information.

Family and friends are not permitted to act as chaperones as they do not have the knowledge or necessary training required.

If you have any questions or wish to see the full chaperone policy, please ask to speak to a member of staff.
